Mary, the following is Iowa and Federal Law relating to your question.
For other assistance with Iowa regulations check out the "Frequently
Asked Questions" at following web address: http://www.iowaworks.org

   Iowa Law:

The maximum number of hours per day an employer can make an employee
work is twenty-four. There are limits on the number of hours worked for
children under age 16 and in some contracts for employment. Also federal
law makes limitations for certain occupations such as truck drivers.

________________________________

Dept of Labor Regulations: The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) does not
limit the number of hours per day or per week that employees aged 16
years and older can be required to work.

Limiting factors include age restrictions (Child Labor regulations),
collective bargaining agreements, other contracts, DOT regulations
regarding truck drivers, company safety policies, etc.

Subject: [IASHRM] Days Worked in a Row

Does anybody know of a recommendation or requirement for the maximum
number of days in a row an employer may allow employees to work? I
haven't found any legal requirements related to this, but am wondering
if I missed something? (DOL, OSHA, etc?)

Do any of your companies have a formal policy regarding the number of
work days in a row allowed that you'd like to share?

Thanks for any input you have!
Have a great day!
Mary
