Sandee, I started a service recognition program at G/J in 1997, and it's
been very successful. We start with 10 years, just because we have so
many long term employees. There is a dinner at the Latin King every year
in May, for all employees who will attain 10 years or more of service
during that calendar year. (Spouses and guests are invited to the
dinner.) There are awards for those celebrating 10-15-20-25....on up to
40... years of service. The awards have been very nice clocks, engraved
with the employee's name and years of service. (25 - 40 year employees
receive larger awards.) As some of the really long term employees begin
to retire, the program may begin at the 5-year anniversary. We have
gold lapel pins with years of service for all employees, beginning at 5
years. We've used Promotions Ltd., owned by Julia Torstenson - 246-1990.
She's great to work with and has a good variety of awards available. Of
course, these programs have to be tailored to a company's culture,
census, etc. But "it's a good thing!" hv

Subject: [IASHRM] Service Awards Program
We are looking at implementing an employee service award program to
begin with 5 years of service and then jump to 10 years, etc. If you
have a service award program in place, can you share information
regarding how it works, what's been successful and not successful in
regard to employee awards, and which awards company, if any, you are
working with? Thank you.
