[IASHRM] Laser Fiche Records Retention

Our HR department is considering going paperless and laser fiching all
our current employee files to have a virtual employee file and
continuing to laser fiche any documents that need to be "filed" in their
new virtual file. Has anyone undertaken this type of project? I would
be interested in any best practices to consider as we decide how to scan
these items, how can we easily tag new filing to go directly into the
"virtual file" and how to best handle auditors who need to review files
for benefits audits and Sarbanes-Oxley audits. Do you just print out
what they request and shred or give them some type of limited access to
review the virtual file?
