We are in the process of reviewing our Paid Time Off Program, and are
interested in common practices for Des Moines area employers. Currently
we have a traditional paid time off policy in which employees are
awarded a set number of hours for vacation, sick time, and holiday time
for the year. We are researching PTO programs. The questions we are
interested in gaining information about are as follows:

1. Do you have a traditional time off program, or a PTO program?

2. If you have a PTO program, what is the maximum number of hours you
allow to be banked?

3. Do you track unplanned absences? If so, at what point do you begin
disciplinary action?

4. Do you require employees use a portion of their PTO bank for leaves
of absences due to STD or FMLA?

5. Do you allow employees to cash out a portion of their PTO bank?

Thank you in advance for your assistance!
