Fellow HR Professionals:
I have a client that is transitioning from a Vacation Policy to a PTO
policy. A few questions have arisen during this transition. I was
wondering if any of you had experienced this and could provide any
information on how she could make the transition as smooth as possible.
Thank you so much.
We are looking into combining our vacation and sick time policies into PTO
time and I am needing to get more information on how to approach this
transition. I have several questions and would like to get some feedback
from someone who have dealt with this in the past. My concern is the hourly
employees and how we could incorporate their accrued balances this year into
the PTO balances for next year. If we are going to allow employees 80 hours
of PTO time next year so they are not accruing it, they can use it after
January 1. How should we handle the time the accrued for this year 2007.
Example: Hourly employee has accrued 80 in 2007, to use in 2008.
If we implement a PTO policy that would give them 80 up front to use in 2008
(PTO), they could potentially have four weeks of PTO time to use for 2008.
Do you know of anyone that I could speak to about this? Or where could I
find the information?
