We went through this several years ago and put together a "Contingent
Leave" account from their previous bank that a person could access for
FMLA reasons if they were out for a period of 5 days or more. They
could use this bank rather than their PTO as long as they met the FMLA
criteria. Since we do not have a short-term disability plan, this is an
option that allows more flexibility.
We also offer a "payout" at year-end for an amount up to 5 days.
