Kris,

We reimburse people at a rate of $.40 per mile when they use their personal vehicle for business travel.  I believe the IRS rate for 2008 is $.50.5.  This amount is usually more than enough to pay for gas. The difference is meant to be used for wear on the vehicle but also to help offset some of the cost of the employee providing their own auto liability and accident coverage.
