POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION TITLE: Professional & Scientific (P&S) Employment Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Human Resource Services (HRS)
APPOINTMENT TYPE: 12 Month, Probationary, Pay Grade IV
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Serves as member of HRS employment team focusing on P&S employment group; manages decentralized recruitment process and applicant tracking system; facilitates immigration processes for faculty and staff; and consults with administrators and supervisors on matters regarding talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and organizational structure.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manages decentralized P&S staff recruitment process and applicant tracking system; advises department staff, employing administrators, and applicants concerning policies and procedures and progress of searches; consults with Office of Compliance and Equity Management; prepares advertisements; conducts training of search chairs/committees and other employees as requested; monitors search compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and laws; conducts benefit briefings to interview candidates; performs background checks and degree verifications; reviews and approves P&S employment offers; monitors departmental hiring of temporary staff; and conducts stay and exit interviews identifying patterns, trends, or correlations.
2. Provides oversight of immigration activities related to the eligibility of faculty & staff to work in the United States; facilitates outsourcing of visa renewal and other work authorization statuses as needed; assists faculty & staff with the interpretation of immigration laws; and processes appropriate forms for visa renewal or permanent residency status.
3. Serves as member of HRS employment team; assists in the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of assigned staff; assists with selection and training of other HRS staff as requested; serves as backup to P&S employment staff as needed; aids in identification and completion of departmental objectives; participates in planning, development, and implementation of new systems and procedures; aids in the interpretation of P&S policies and procedures; and recommends new and revised policies and procedures as needed.
4. Consults with administrators and supervisors to assist departments with organizational needs; assists with employee relations activities affecting P&S staff members; provides procedural information and reference materials to individual staff members, supervisors, and administrators seeking assistance; consults with supervisors regarding procedure and individual circumstances; and monitors and communicates information related to employees eligible for continuing service status.
5. Assists with P&S staff compensation equity and uniformity; assists in analysis of external compensation programs and surveys; suggests changes as appropriate; reviews salary exceptions for new hires; and reviews annual salary budget file.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in business or related field plus at least four years of human resources generalist experience including employment and recruitment practices required. Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills also required. Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. immigration regulations preferred.
